Cases Pending in High courts
                                                                 As on December 31,2006

• High Court building has been constructed.
• Legal system has been strengthened. Crime rate is the lowest in the country and no anti-social activities. There is peace everywhere. This is proved by the declaration of Union Home Minister who said "Sikkim is the most peaceful state of the nation."
• All infrastructures have been created for legal administration. In all four districts new complexes have been created.
• To give justice to poor at a very low cost the govt. has established Lok Adalats in all the 9 sub divisions of the state. To dispense justice with ease the govt. has established (a) Atrocity Court (b) Human Rights Court (c) Family court and (d) Consumer's Court.
•  In Sikkim there is least number of backlog of cases. In this respect it ranks in the front at the national level.
• For the first time a Sikkimese has been appointed to the post of the Judge of a High Court.
• The government has built 17 courts in the state.
