The Government has been strongly advocating the appointment of eminent Sikkimese at the Centre for the posts of Union Ministers, Ambassadors, Governors and Chief Justices. The SDF government was succeeded in appointment of a Sikkimese for the post of Ambassador.
The Government has banned the use of liquor in Mintokgang and other official functions.
Having kept politics away from family control, Chief Minister of Sikkim has set an example of a new political trend and value before the country. He has not given any political posts to any of his family members.
The Income Tax Act invited by earlier Government by indulging in gift racket scandal is being kept at bay and have been successful in continuing the Sikkim's own income tax law.
In the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, the Government has passed a resolution and requested the Centre Government to declare Sikkimese Lepcha as "Primitive Tribe"
Government has also requested the Central Government for the inclusion of Limboo, Bhutia and Lepcha languages in the 8th schedule of the Constitution
The SDF Government has made consistent efforts to reserve seats for the Limboo and Tamang communities in the Assembly. The Government has requested the Centre to increase Assembly seats from 32 to 40.
Considering the tribal character of Kirat Khambu Rai, Mangar, Gurung, Sunuwar, Thami, Dewan, Jogi and Bhujel community, the state has placed its demand at the Centre for inclusion in the list of schedule tribes. Similarly demands have been raised for the inclusion of Bahun, Chhetri, and Newar community in the central OBC list.
It has placed demands before the Central Government to declare Nepali community as a "Minority community"
The state has requested Centre to declare Sikkim a tribal state where there are 40% tribal.
