On 14th February 2004, a 135 ft. tall statue of Sikkim's Patron Saint, Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rimpoche) was installed at Samdruptse, Namchi.
At Solophok in Namchi, a 108 ft. tall statue of Lord Shiva, the holy Char Dham of Hindus with idols of various gods and goddesses of different communities of Sikkim are being installed.
Sikkim Temple Guest House has been constructed in Bodh Gaya.
Respecting the religious sentiments of people of Sikkim, the Rathongchu Hydel Project has been abandoned to construct a cultural centre.

Cash award of RS.l.00 lakh along with citation, Angavastra is given every year to those individuals who have made outstanding contribution in the field of literature, music , sports and art. Personalities like freedom fighter late Capt. Ramsingh Thakuri, footballers late Shri Prem Dorjee Bhutia and Shri Bhaichung Bhutia, Olympian Shri Jaslal Pradhan, literature late Tulsiram Sharma 'Kashyap', film actor Shri Danny Denzongpa, musicians Shri Sonam"Tshering Lepcha and late Benjamin Rai" artist Shri Lharipa Ganden Lama and archer Shri Chungda Sherpa have been awarded.

a).With a view to encourage individuals and organizations to work in
their perspective field, the government has introduced
"Feel Proud" grant.
b) Best and dedicated government employees are given
RS.5000/- "Development Dividend" grant.
c) Introduced "You have done
well" grant of Rs. 5000/- for the NGOs registered before 20th January 2004.
d) Introduced RS.5000/- "Keep it Up" grant for registered tourism and travel
agents.
e) "Creative Performance grant" for writers and intellectuals.
f) "Positive Journalism" grant of RS.l0,000/-for journalists has been
instituted.
g) "We respect You" grant of Rs. 5,000/- to elders who
have reached 70 years has been instituted.

h) "State Laurels" grant of RS.l0,OOO/- to those sportsmen who represent
Sikkim in the National Sports events has been instituted.
i) "Most
Progressive Farmer" grant of RS.5000/- to progressive and dedicated farmer
has been instituted.
•Installation of statues of Lord Shiva, Mahatma
Siri Junga and Adi Kavi Bhanubhakta has commenced along with construction of
replica of staircase to heaven based on Lepcha legend.
•Numbers of
Buddhist monasteries and monastic schools have been increased. The subsidies
and grants given to students of monastic schools have also been increased
considerably.
i) Yearly subsidies have been raised from RS.l000/-to
RS.12,OOO/-
ii) The monthly scholarships given to students have been raised from
RS.150/-to RS.320/-
iii) The consolidated pay of RS.l000/- being given
to art teacher has been raised to RS.5000/- per month.
iv) The monthly
pay of teachers have been raised from RS.l000/ - to RS.3000/-
v) The
students of monastic schools and Sanskrit schools are given free uniforms
and books.
A huge cultural garden is being developed to protect, preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of the state.
Community centres are constructed at Geyzing, Mangan, Ravangla, Pakyongand other places.
The community building of Gangtok is being modernized.
